Itching to do some skiing or snowboarding overseas for a winter holiday? Europe may be ideal for winter sports but that would mean long flights and pricey accommodation. Contrary to popular belief, Asia also has some nice sports for skiing and snowboarding as well! I will share with you guys some places in Asia that you can explore for your next winter sports holiday.
Yongpyong is the biggest ski and snowboard resort in South Korea. Yongpyong’s slopes spread across beginner, intermediate, advanced and expert levels, making it the perfect location for families who have beginner or advanced skiers!~
Vivaldi Park lies just about an hour by road from Seoul and is popular among young skiers!The slopes are generally in good shape and the park offers a variety of choices for any skier.~
Konjiam Resort caps its visitor numbers at 7,000 and with this limit, it promises that the queues will not take more than 15 minutes.~
Furano is the ideal resort for families, as they have varied slopes varying from beginners to advanced! The ski area is made up of two zones: the Kitanomine zone (open mid December to late March) and the Furano zone (open late November to early May), both of which are accessible from the town of Furano by shuttle. For beginners, most of the terrains are well designed that you can easily slide from the top of the mountain, making it the perfect place to learn and practice. Additionally, the snow is soft and fluffy and falling down will not hurt at all! :)
There is plenty of terrain to explore and there really is something for everybody! There are family friendly wide open slopes but also some for advanced skiers. Advanced skiers can find a terrain park with jumps, rails, boxes and an eighty metre pipe to get the adrenalin pumping.
Sapporo Teine features a variety of trails from wide, gently sloping hills to long and fast advanced courses which include two runs used for some ski events during the 1972 Sapporo Winter Olympics. The Olympic Torch still stands above the resort as a monument overlooking Sapporo and the Sea of Japan below.~
Located 80km out of Beijing, Nanshan Ski Resort is one of the largest and most beautiful ski resorts close to Beijing. It has a total of 21 trails for beginners, intermediate and advanced skiers, which makes it the perfect ground for a large group of skiers to go to! There is also a ski school for those interested where you can sharpen your skills or start learning how to ski. Most of the programs are customisable by licensed instructors there. :)Raj Gundha - Arguably the most rewarding beginners trek/Hike in the Himalayas. Located 85km from Beijing, Huabei ski resort is surrounded by the Great Wall which gives their slopes amazing view of the Ming-era Great wall to Mutianyu Great Wall. This resort has 7 ski trails: 1 for advanced skiers, 3 for intermediate skiers and 4 for beginner skiers. The resort also boasts schools for those who want to sharpen their skills or even learn this new sport!
