6 Secret Places To Hike In Singapore


This family-friendly trail is perfect if you want to go hiking with your kids! If you want to spend the day there, you could even bring some food with you for a picnic.

The walking trail is an easy one as it is mostly flat. The total distance of the trail (including the Lower Peirce Reservoir and Ang Mo Kio Park) is around 8km.

This green and peaceful path will really make you feel close to nature. You won’t want to miss out on this one!

Nearest MRT station: Ang Mo Kio MRT station (and then grab the bus 169 to “opp S’wang Hill FC”)


2. Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve

If you’re a nature lover, this place is made for you! Its rich and diverse biodiversity is perfect to get your body moving while admiring the beauty of wildlife.

If you love animals and mangroves, this one is definitely for you!

Fun fact: this is actually the first ASEAN heritage park! Its new Visitor Centre actually has some new trails for you to try out.

The best time to go there is during the migratory season (between September to March) where you will be able to see a lot of birds around.

Nearest MRT station: Kranji MRT Station (and then catch the Kranji Express, starting from 8.30 am to 5.45 pm every day)

3. Dairy Farm Nature Park

This one is for adventure lovers who have always wanted to have a real jungle experience!

This trekking trail is one of the rarer spots in Singapore that only a few people know about.

Located in the middle of the forest, the trail starts from the Dairy Farm Nature Park and it brings you all the way up to the top of Bukit Timah Hill.

Make sure to watch out for bikers and try out the Wallace Trail while you’re there :)

Psstt.. don’t forget to wear comfortable hiking shoes and quick-drying hiking apparel as you WILL be climbing some stairs!

Nearest MRT station: Hillview MRT Station (then you can walk or catch a bus)


4. Kranji Marshes

If you’re looking for a beginner-friendly and more gentle trail for walking, then Kranji Marshes is the place for you.

Opened to the public only a few years ago, this wetland is perfect for a quiet and pleasant getaway. This easy path is actually the largest freshwater marshland in Singapore.

Don’t miss the Raptor Tower where you can get a panoramic view and take amazing pictures of the surroundings.

We even heard that you might be able to see a lot of birds, butterflies, and even dragonflies during your excursion.

Nearest MRT station: Kranji MRT Station (and then catch the Kranji Express, starting from 8.30 am to 5.45 pm every day)

5. Pulau Ubin’s Puaka Hill

For an amazing view of Singapore and Malaysia, you should definitely check out Pulau Ubin’s Puaka Hill!

Located around 15 minutes by boat from Singapore, this island will definitely give you the full jungle experience.

There are four different stations where you can stop - of course, the last one offers you the best view! Just make sure to be careful as there are no guardrails along the way.

The hike is pretty short (around 20 mins) but it will be a good workout thanks to its steep path and stairs. We assure you the peak will be all worth it (for you and for your Instagram)!

Nearest MRT station: Tampines MRT Station (then catch the bus 2 or 9 until the Changi Point Ferry Terminal where you can take the ferry to Pulau Ubin)

Opening hours: The ferry operates from 5.30am to 9pm daily


6. The Green Corridor

This last spot is definitely one of the coolest trails you can find in Singapore!

This old and former railway was previously used to transport goods between Singapore and Malaysia and has since been reconverted into a hiking trail.

The railway path is around 24km, so you can really take your time to explore all of the surroundings. You'll be trekking in the middle of heritage and wildlife: the perfect combo to take a break from your routine!
