Hiking is a very fun sport but visiting the same trails repeatedly can get pretty mundane after a while.

Think you've exhausted all ideas and wondering where else you can hike in Singapore?

If you want to spice up your list and try places other than MacRitchie or the TreeTop Walk, check these 11 other trails out!

1. Lower pierce reservoir park at bishan - ang mo kio park

Difficulty: Easy

This family-friendly trail is perfect if you want to go hiking with your kids! If you want to spend the day there, you could even bring some food with you for a picnic.

The walking trail is an easy one as it is mostly flat. The total distance of the trail (including the Lower Peirce Reservoir and Ang Mo Kio Park) is around 8km.

This green and peaceful path will really make you feel close to nature. You won’t want to miss out on this one!

You could consider hiking Thomson Nature Park as a nearby alternative too.

Nearest MRT station: Ang Mo Kio MRT station (and then grab the bus 169 to “opp S’wang Hill FC”)

2. Sungei buloh wetland reserve

Difficulty: Easy

If you’re a nature lover, this place is made for you! Its rich and diverse biodiversity is perfect to get your body moving while admiring the beauty of wildlife.

If you love animals and mangroves, this one is definitely for you!

Fun fact: this is actually the first ASEAN heritage park! Its new Visitor Centre actually has some new trails for you to try out.

The best time to go there is during the migratory season (between September to March) where you will be able to see a lot of birds around.

Nearest MRT station: Kranji MRT Station (and then catch the Kranji Express, starting from 8.30 am to 5.45 pm every day)

3. Dairy farm nature park

Difficulty: Moderate

This one is for adventure lovers who have always wanted to have a real jungle experience!

This trekking trail is one of the rarer spots in Singapore that only a few people know about.

Located in the middle of the forest, the trail starts from the Dairy Farm Nature Park and it brings you all the way up to the top of Bukit Timah Hill.

Make sure to watch out for bikers and try out the Wallace Trail while you’re there :)

Psstt.. don’t forget to wear comfortable hiking shoes and quick-drying hiking apparel as you WILL be climbing some stairs!

Oh, don't forget to make a pitstop at the Singapore Quarry along the way as well! Its scenic views make for a perfect picnic spot.

4. Kranji marshes

Difficulty: Easy

If you’re looking for a beginner-friendly and more gentle trail for walking, then Kranji Marshes is the place for you.

Opened to the public only a few years ago, this wetland is perfect for a quiet and pleasant getaway. This easy path is actually the largest freshwater marshland in Singapore.

Don’t miss the Raptor Tower where you can get a panoramic view and take amazing pictures of the surroundings.

We even heard that you might be able to see a lot of birds, butterflies, and even dragonflies during your excursion.

5. Puaka hill

Difficulty: Moderate

For an amazing view of Singapore and Malaysia, you should definitely check out Pulau Ubin’s Puaka Hill!

Located around 15 minutes by boat from Singapore, this island will definitely give you the full jungle experience.

There are four different stations where you can stop - of course, the last one offers you the best view! Just make sure to be careful as there are no guardrails along the way.

The hike is pretty short (around 20 mins) but it will be a good workout thanks to its steep path and stairs. We assure you the peak will be all worth it (for you and for your Instagram)!

Nearest MRT station: Tampines MRT Station (then catch the bus 2 or 9 until the Changi Point Ferry Terminal where you can take the ferry to Pulau Ubin)

Opening hours: The ferry operates from 5.30am to 9pm daily

6. The green corridor

Difficulty: Easy

This last spot is definitely one of the coolest trails you can find in Singapore!

This old and former railway was previously used to transport goods between Singapore and Malaysia and has since been reconverted into a hiking trail.

The railway path is around 24km, so you can really take your time to explore all of the surroundings. You'll be trekking in the middle of heritage and wildlife: the perfect combo to take a break from your routine!

7. Bukit batok nature park

Difficulty: Easy

Hey Westies, this one's for you!

Bukit Batok Nature Park is ideal for those who want a simple, peaceful and relatively easy trail.

This 36-hectare park was developed on an abandoned quarry site. Look out for the paths that lead to vantage points of the quarry lake's amazing views. You can probably catch sightings of the inhabitants of the quarry lake here, like freshwater turtles!

You could also take some time to pay attribute to the soldiers and victims of World War II at the memorial plaque located in the park.

Bring along binoculars for bird watching and see if you can spot the rare Grey-headed Fish Eagle!

8. Windsor nature park trail

Difficulty: Easy

Located in the central area of Singapore, this 75-hectare park offers new trails where you can spot rare native plants, walk on a sub-canopy and discover the marsh habitat and several freshwater streams while hiking!

This trail is ideal for those who are not as mobile as it comprises mostly flat trails and the starting point is a car park. You can consider bringing along lightweight camping chairs for your resting points.

Things to take note of for this trail - bicycles and pets are not allowed so it is a perfect time to take a stroll while enjoying nature!

Nearest MRT station: Upper Thompson MRT Station & Brighthill MRT Station.

9. Chestnut park

With a total of 81-hectares, Chestnut Nature Park is Singapore's largest nature park to date. There are 2 areas of the park - South and North.

The Northern hiking trail is about 3.5km while the Southern hiking trail is 2.1km.

The trails are relatively easy, ideal for beginners and those who want to explore nature with amenities!

A plus point for those into mountain biking - this park offers mountain biking trails that comprise varying levels of difficulty.

If you are still looking for more activities after the hike, you can find kiosks where you can rent and wash bikes.

10. Punggol promenade nature walk

Difficulty: Easy

This nature walk is located in the middle section of Punggol Promenade between Punggol Point Walk and Riverside Walk. It spans approximately 2.4km for a nice and easy walk.

You could opt to start toward the direction of Lorong Halus and end at the Lorong Halus or the other way round.

Enjoy the scenic view of Seragoon River on one end, and greenery on the other.

Plus point: There are plenty of rest stops comprising of sheltered and unsheltered benches, and trees to shade you from the sweltering heat on this trail!

Nearest LRT station: Punggol East Loop

11. Mount serapong

We've saved the best for last. 

Adventure-seekers, this one is definitely for you. Probably not really for the faint hearted!

Located in Sentosa, the trail comprises a whole area of underground tunnels, abandoned World War II structures and bunkers!

The fort was built between the 1870s and 1890s and had served many purposes such as keeping pirates at bay and detering enemies with big guns during WWII.

Once you are there, you will probably feel like you have entered another world with all the ruined and rusted structures covered in vines.

We would advise you to check if a guided tour is needed as venturing out alone could be dangerous.

There are man-made trails, uneven cement grounds and some parts might be muddy after a rainy day so be sure to wear a good pair of hiking shoes with good grip and waterproofing.

Explore at your own discretion!

Nearest MRT station: Harbourfront MRT station - will have to take the Sentosa Express to get to Beach station and walk from there.
